Day 1
- Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar
Arrived in Denver in the afternoon and took the train into the city (it is not close to downtown). We stayed at the Westin downtown – loved it. If we could do it again, would have probably stayed at the Crawford Hotel or Oxford Hotel, which are right by the train station and more centrally located.
Once you get downtown it’s a very walkable city. It feels cooler because of the altitude, so it would be a good idea to pack warmer.
Had dinner at Jax – excellent food and service but very expensive.
Day 2
- Mercantile Dining and Provision
- Wynkoop Brewing Company
- Denver Milk Market
Ate breakfast at Mercantile, great food.
Great beer at Wynkoop, then went to the Dairy Block. Walked around and shopped/grabbed coffee.
Went to a Colorado Rockies game, which was great because you can see the mountains across the stadium
Went back to the Dairy Block for a meat and cheese plate at the Denver Milk Market.
Day 3
- Stoney’s Bar and Grill
- Guard and Grace
Had breakfast again at Mercantile (expensive but worth it).
It was Sunday and we went to Guard and Grace, a Browns backer bar for lunch and the game. It was a really good time, and they actually won that day (rare).
Had dinner at Garden Grace – very nice steakhouse, great food.
Day 4
- Snooze
- 10 Barrel Brewing Company Denver
- Bierstadt Lagerhaus
- River North Brewery – Blake Street Taproom
Coffee and breakfast at Snooze – really good and always has a line. Went on Monday because it was shorter than on the weekend.
Went to the brewery district and made several stops – River North was our favorite but we liked them all.
It was a very enjoyable city and we walked everywhere. Lots of younger kids, too – family-friendly. Next time we want to get a car so we can venture out to the mountains, but it would have been a hassle and much more expensive with parking added on.
