Day 1
- Niagara Falls
- Red Coach Inn
We stayed overnight at the Red Coach Inn, where they filmed parts of The Office.
Day 2
- Welland Canal
- Old Firehall Confectionery
- Old Country Inn
The canal was boring for me but my husband loved watching the boats go through the locks. We then drove to Unionville to see Gilmore Girls filming locations – worth it, cute town with good food. Stayed by the Toronto airport.
Day 3
- The Chip Shack
- Peakes Quay Marina
- St. Dunstan’s Basilica Cathedral
- Great George Street
- Victoria Row
- Beaconsfield Historic House
- The Harbour House
Flew to Prince Edward Island. Walked around downtown and had a good lunch at The Chip Shack. Walked down all the famous streets and saw an Anne of Green Gables Musical at the Confederation Centre. Stayed at the Harbour House.
Day 4
- Victoria Seaport Lighthouse
- Island Chocolates
- Confederation Bridge
- Canadian Potato Museum & Antique Farm Machinery Museum
- West Point Lighthouse Inn & Museum
- Chez Yvonne’s
- Cavendish Boardwalk
- Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages
We drove around to a lot of small towns. Victoria by the Sea is cute but lots of bugs. Have to go to the potato museum. The Lighthouse is one of the most famous spots on the island – worth spending some time there. The boardwalk is probably more lively in the summer, just so-so.
Day 5
- Green Gables Heritage Place
- Avonlea Village
- Cape Tryon Lighthouse
- Anne of Green Gables Museum
- Mariner’s Cove Boardwalk
- North Rustico Beach
- Blue Mussel Cafe
- Stanley Bridge
If you’re a fan of Anne of Green Gables, you have to visit the sites. North Rustico Beach was beautiful and the Blue Mussel Cafe is phenomenal – eat there.
Day 6
- Hostetter’s Viewscape
- Thunder Cove Beach
- The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts Centre
- Spinnakers Landing
- Lucy Maud Montgomery Birthplace
- Cavendish Beach
- Island Honey Wine Company
- Cavendish Lobster Shack
- Prince Edward Island Preserve Company
- DogBoat Tours & Charters
Hostetter’s Viewscape is a must-see. The beaches are some of the most unique I’ve ever seen, with red sand and cliffs. There are lots of unique shops and restaurants, and you have to have a lobster supper while you’re there (unlimited mussels).
Took the sunset tour by Dog Boat Tours – highly recommend. The waves were too high for us to go in the open water but the inlets were still great.
Day 7
- North Rustico Beach
- Greenwich National Park
- Point Prim Chowder House
- Point Prim Lighthouse
- COWS Creamery
The National Park was a long but rewarding walk to the beach. Highly recommend the chowder house and a stop at the lighthouse. The best ice cream in the world is cows creamery. We walked around the museum and ate as much as possible.
Flew back the next morning.
